Hello everyone, I'm new here.
Hello everyone,
It seems that this crested forum gets so much more responses to other forums on the net. I've been breeding leopard geckos and I'm about to get into Cresteds but have a few rookie questions. Do female Cresteds store sperm as well as female Leopard Geckos? Also, I have two unsexed baby crested geckos currently housed together. When would it be a problem to house them together if they turn out to be two males? Does anyone here feed CGD exclusively? I've heard a lot of good things about the CGD and was hoping to get my breeders on them if they werent already. Thanks for your time!

Hi
If the two cresteds were raised together it won't be TOO problematic if they turn out to be both males...
If you want to seperate them then you could probably wait until they're sexually mature (bulges)

the first question i cant answer... im fairly new as well, and havent begun to look into breeding. However your unsexed geckos, should they both turn out males, may not need to ever be seperated. In most situations when 2 male cresteds are brought up together they will get a long okay. However the table will turn once a female is put into the picture. Just like humans they will begin to fight for her. The CGD is good, however i wouldnt recommend it as an exclusive diet. Some people have luck with it. I believe just like with having an appropriate cage set up, a variety of fruit baby food (in some occasions even turkey or chicken) as well as a couple crickets a week, it seems to keep them happier and more entertained.

Welcome, YES they do store sperm. my female i bought at a show, and i kept her alone, and she laid two eggs, so i thought they must be infertile, but i took care of them, and i got a hatchling out of it. the other one was suffocated in the egg, and when i got him out, i could see his body was a bit smaller and weaker than the other. But i was amazed to have an agg hatch.
I feed baby food fruit flavors with CGD in it. I also feed Crix, b/c they seem to grow faster with crix, and they love to hunt. Good luck. remember that crested geckos don't like too much heat. low 70's is usually good.

Without a problem you can put your two baby's together. Two females or two males will get along well. If it's two females, you can put a male with them later on. If it's two males, you need to seperate them later if you want to breed them or else they will kill each other. Females defenatly store sperm. After I got my girl, she is still laiying eggs. I got 8 eggs so far and she's alone.
