Who are the unicyclists?
Hey everyone!
I myself am a unicyclist and im wondering how many others there are on the site? I know one person but thats because I taught him to ride. LOL.
Tip of the day to all the unicyclist:
Don't go out and try too hard to outdo yourself right now if you haven't been out much this winter. I learned that the hard way just 30 mins ago!
Heres the story:
I have needed to tune my unicycle for about 2 months so i went out and did that today. I tightened some bolts(broke a screw too cause I tightened the bolt too much), raised the seat about 1-1.5", and rode a little in my backyard. Then I decided to go ride in my driveway. While in my driveway, i looked out onto the - COMPLETELY clear of any ice or snow - road in front of my house. Its a 4 lane road with a 2-10ft median in the middle. Anyways, I began to ride on the road, hopped onto the median(yes, you can hop/jump with a unicycle) and all was fine. I kept riding and I cam to a break in the median and kept going and hopped back on to the next part. I got to the end and got off and turned around to go back. Here is where it happens. I had been doing great and all but the occasional little screwups but i felt confident and was going to ride beside it and hop up sideways on to the median. I got right beside it, and i right when i decided to jump something didn't feel right. As soon as I was in the air i knew I was screwed. I felt the tire hook the edge of the median and WAM! I hit the ground with my knees and palms(I couldn't find my gloves) and scrape them to hell and now I have a slit on my hand and two sore and scraped knees. I'd been trying to do too much after not enought practicing and taking it easy.
Some guy scared me though. My uni(unicycle) was sitting on the road and I was on the median so I picked it up and ran over to the side walk(yes, I was not dead). Some guy was in his driveway walking around with a gas can. He was pacing back and forth, looking at me, I looked at him a few times but he said nothing. Then he was just standing there stairing at me. I said "Im ok". He muttered something indicernible. Then he was like "blah blah speed mutter circus". I didnt understand but I just said "HAHa" quietly. Then he said it a few more times and I heard soemthing like "Mutter, gen speed, mutter, n trick, mutter, joing circus," then immediately after some muttering and he said something about drugs. The guy sounded possesed. Anyways I sorta just started walking even though it was killing me and went to the end of the neighboors place with a tree blocking me from his sight. It was kind of and eery situation. Ok I'l shut up now.
So if you are a unicyclist, let us know man! All of you who think its weird, I'm going to be doing a little "presentation" as you may call it on unicycling. Its really awesome and fun. Lots of different styles too.
Chris

More power to you, I've always been interested in unicycling, but to be honest with you, after noticing the seat, I then looked in the general direction of my genitals, looked at the seat again, it was there that I decided that unicycling was not for me.

I'm an avid mtn. biker and started unicycling a little while ago, but don't think I'll be buying one soon. Been "sacked" a few too many times if you know what I mean. I can go for several blocks and turn around and come back without stopping, but whenever I try to hop or drop I get unjured. Oh well. I gues I'll stay on 2 wheels. Keep up the good work.
P.S. There is a couple mtn. biking videos with Chris Holmes who is an amazing unicyclist. Very entertaining to any of you who want to chec it out.

Always wanted to, but never have....spotted a couple of unis and a trainer for sale at a local used goods shop the other day and nearly bought one.

Hey, what I mutter when I'm in my driveway is my business...not yours.

So, Im gonna resurect this thread.
Also, about the seat. If you sit properly in it, and dont sit on the seat when you are landing a jump or big drop(Ie: Picnic table), then you wont hurt yourself. Also, my unicycle is a trials unicycle and the padding for the seat is about 2.5-3 inches thick. I use the same unicycle as Kris Holm uses.
I have only every hurt myself twice on mine. Once I was jumping over a retaining wall and down the side of it(4 foot drop). I stand up when doing most tricks. Also, bikes are aparently pretty bad, I wont go into detail, lol.
So. Anyone else out there ride? There probably 6000 active/partialy active members. There has got to be someone else!
