Avicularia versicolor

Hey guys,

Since mom feels really bad about saying no to me when I asked to get a Rose Hair at the last expo. (She was upset about the car and forgot she promised I could get a new herp). She's now letting me get a Tarantula AND a snake or gecko at the NEXT show. I'm making her sign an agreement this time! lmao

So, I was looking at Beginner Tarantula species that I find attractive. And I compiled a short list of my favourites:
Rose Hair
Red Knee
Antilles pink toe
Mexican Blood Leg
Red Rump

My question is, does the Antilles Pink Toe (Avicularia versicolor) always stay that blue color that I saw on arachnomania's site?

http://www.arachnomania.net/pictures...spinktoe02.jpg

Because if so, WOW.

I think they must vary a bit a lot of pics I've seen they have some red/pink on their abdomen awesome either way IMO.

No, it's only the babies that are blue like that, as they get older they get shades of pink and purple, etc...I've never seen an adult that retained the juvenile colours...They're still very pretty as adults, though...they're one of my favourite tarantulas.

Yep, that pic of Phong's is the first image that pops in my head when A. versicolor is mentioned.
Incidentally all, there's a clue as to the spiders ontogenic coloration change in the scientific name...... Whenever you see versicolor it usually alludes to a dimorphism in colour (eg., Gray Treefrog = Hyla versicolor).
Cheers,
R
