Maximum tank size?
My Cali King is still a youngster but I am thinking ahead and putting some money aside. When she is fully-grown, what is the smallest tank size that I can get away with that she will be happy in, please?
I have seen something called a milkmaid mentioned but in the UK we just have the standard front-opening glass or wooden vivariums or some people adapt glass fish tanks and have special hoods made.
When talking about fully-grown, what is the average length of a Cali?

well, i dont like to put things in the minimum size enclosures, but i think the minimum for a cali king is a 20L, but i could be mistaken

I don't know about litres but someone suggested a tank of the following dimensions:
60cm long x 30cm wide by 38cm high.
I know where I could get two of these - one for my Cali and one for my corn. what do you think?

Thanks. The tanks I can get are 24 x 12 x 15 (15 gallon?) so perhaps they are a bit too small. I'm okay at the moment so i'll look around carefully before parting with any money.

You could also look at plastic rubbermaid type containers? They come in all sizes and are much cheaper than a glass tank. You would be able to provide a 30-gallon equivalent at an affordable price that way.

I think if you are putting away money why not just save up and get both of them 30 gallons? Or even 40 gallon breeder tanks.

Okay, you've all given me some good food for thought. BTW, what is a rubbermaid? I haven't heard of that expression over in the UK.

if youre going with aquarium style enclosures id say nothing smaller than 33g. id go with 40g breeder myself.

Rule of thunb for me is 1/2 its length and 1/3 its height. that way its roomy for decoration and the snake can stretch and breath.
