Leucistic texas ratsnakes
My BF and I just picked up a pair of Lucy Texas rats at a reptile show this weekend. He has been wanting a pair for a long time My question is... does anyone here have any, and what are their temperments like? We've been told by some people that they are nothing but "pure evil" LOL! But the male seems pretty calm and the female only bites once or twice when you get her out and then seems to calm down. I know they have quite a reputation for being aggressive, but was wondering what other peoples experiences with them have been like.

I read about that reputation to, after I got mine 1 1/2 yrs ago at a show. He was nippy at first. But after 2-3 months he's calmed down a lot. I just move a little slower than I do my P regious. We have about 3 or 4 we use at the zoo for education and they are great.
It is intimidating when they rattle that tail though. I wasn't expecting that when I got mine home. I thought I had a rattlesnake!!!
How bout some pics??? Good luck
This is Oonayge

Yeah, they can be fiesty, but they do settle down after a while.
I find all my LTR's to be shy eaters.
And yup, that's an LTR in my avatar.

Mine are really shy eaters too, and they have 'somewhat' settled down after the first few months.

Ours are anything but shy at eating! They hit the fuzzy as soon as it hits the bottom of the cage. Our gopher on the other hand will wait for you to leave the room before she will eat .

Rat snakes always get a bad rap. LTRs can be fiesty, but so can any other snake. My little male packs big attitude, but is chicken when confronted. My big female is very shy & extremely flighty. The little guys bit me a few times, but gave me plenty of warning first everytime LOL With any luck I'll produce some for the first time this season. Mark I.
