Breeders/dealers in canada ?

Hi, I'm curious too know how many breeders or dealers of hots there are in Canada, they are defiantly are good at hiding, lol, if anyone can let me know, it would be a great help, I'd also be interested in knowing of breeders/dealers in the States who can ship too Canada, but would prefer people within the country , thanks,
Devon

I really doubt you'll have any luck getting a hot across the border legally. Not without being able to provide them with a good reason for you having one.

But maybe I'm way off base

There's quite a few people who will ship hots to Canada, but they require a minimum order of usually $1000 USD and up. Before you attempt to ship anything thought, check with what's legal in your province. Getting hots over the boarder isn't hard so long as they are not a prohibited species and have proper documentation (ei. CITIES if required).

Hi, this is why i was hopeing too find some Canadian breeders or dealers , i dont really want the trouble of crossing the border, plus as stated above alot of the time they only ship across borders if your getting Large orders . which im not planing on doing.
there must be somebody in canada out there, ???
Thanks,
Devon

Try a search for Dragon Farms. I think they are located in Ont. I know that they work with hot snakes but I don't know if they sell to the public.

Hope this helps and good luck. I'd love a gaboon (sp?) viper but I just can't take any risks because I have a little girl.

Cruciform,

Bringing hots acrosss the border is no problem. They are only concerned with turts and torts and CITES listed species. Having venomous usually speeds up the inspection if they opt to do one because none of these guys and gals seem to want to be anywhere near a venomous snake.

Dragon Farms no longer exists as far as I know.
As for Canadian breeders most prefer anonymity unless you're personally acquainted as talking/selling to the wrong person can get you and your collection in deep crap.
The best thing to do is just become involved actively in your local reptile community, this type of thing usually occurs on a "I know someone who knows someone who..." type of basis.

Make sure you check your provincial laws and local bi-laws before getting a hot. You may end up breaking a bunch of laws.
Cheers,

Dragon farms has no problem selling to the public.... that's the whole problem with them! If you have cash you'll get anything you like. From what I have heard they are out of business which is a great thing.

I never even noticed your location. I'm up near Bathurst, where are you? If you contact the provincial department of wild life I'm sure they will tell you they are not allowed. They once told one of this sites members that it was illegal to bring any species of python or boa into the province. Also NB is not the best place to want to own a hot. It's not like the hospitals here are going to have any antivenom. The only way you are going to get antivenom is if you buy and that will cost way more then you would expect. I heard the stuff cost thousands of dollars.
In the mean time I'll get you the link to the provinces legislation on exotic animals.
Cheers,
Trevor
