favorite horror movies
I know many people don't care for those, but horror movies are, in some ways, my favorites. If you had to pick one, wich would you consider to be a masterpiece? And why?
I have a few : Night of the living dead (original motion picture)
Ghosts of mars
The howling
The dead next door
Darkness falls (it's ok)
just some out of my head. What about you?

I also think that horror movies are the best. I think that King Cobra is because it is a 32 foot long hybrid with the front of a king cobra and the back or an eastern diamondback rattlesnake. In the end it doesn't die or get killed either (yeah!!!)

I'm a huge cheesy horror fan...
Evil Dead 1 & 2 and Army of Darkness (I don't think I even need to explain this....lol )
The Midnight Hour (My Dad used to wake me up when I was two or three years old in the middle of the night to watch this)
Return of the Living Dead (Hahaha seriously... the running cadaver and the rigormortis scenes make me laugh so hard! )
House of 1000 Corpses (LOL I can't even think of something to explain this one )
Pretty much any vampire movie - of course the cheesier the better - scores good with me too... HUGE vampire movie freak :eb:
That's all that rolls off the top of my head right now

I forgot that one: House of 1000 corpses. I'm a huge fan of Rob Zombie and his dark trip-hop. There's House of 2000 corpses coming out...

Does anyone remember the gate? Ghoulies - lol. I was really little when I saw that one. I was afraid to use the toilet after for awhile. My mom was a huge sci fi horror fan. When I was 3 or 4 she would make me watch them with her. I would be terrified!!! Remember the howling? That's one of the earliest that I remeber watching, night of the living dead brains, brains. Ahh, I could go on.
Cool thread.

Evil Dead series of course.
Deep Rising was actually a really fun movie, though not really scary.
An American Werewolf in London! Great flick! never saw the sequel though.
The new Dawn of the Dead looks like it has promise.

Cube and Hypercube were both fun to watch. Did anyone see that? And what about the Blair witch project?

John Carpenter's remake of the classic, "The Thing", starring Kurt Russell was pretty good.
"It's Alive" scared the crap outta me when I was a kid.
"Basket-Case" was pretty bizarre, although more humorous than scary.
The whole "Alien" series is great, particularly the first one.
The "Evil Dead" series is good, too.
And, the original "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" is still a classic...somewhat tame by today's standards, but at the time it was really something. I mean, the guy who played the hitch-hiker at the beginning...? Weird and extremely well-played.

A slightly different genre of horror, but I love old monster movies. Creature from the Black Lagoon is tops. beyond the rest of the classic universal monsters, there were some great and some hillariously bad monster flicks.
