Clemmys guttata (spotted turtle)

I am very interested in this turtle. But can't seem to find out how big they get as an adult, and what kind of enclosure is needed. If anyone know it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for whoever answers.

yup I'm in Kansas. My partner once found one in Massachusettes and (she was little) said it looked like a "huge lady bug" lol. So after we found it, we want to find out the info on it and find out if we can find any info on it and if anyone breeds it.

Very understandable, but right now I am very far away from Canada. But we are moving to Maine and that is where we will be looking for it. Probably not for about a year though, I want to be able to have an internet connection so I can come here and ask questions and look things up on the net.

Spotted turtles are protected in most of their range in the US. However, if you look on the other site's classifieds, you'll find ooooddles of breeders at very reasonable prices.

They stay very small four to five inches SCL and highly sought after.

JJ

Lol

Highly Sought After = Tons of money

lol
Yes, I will make sure it is legal to keep them in Maine.

Really now? I have looked at TONS of sites, I found ONE breeder! And next to no information. I have found that they are mainly carnivors and now that they are really small, and that is just about it. lol, I have no clue on habitat or anything else.

Spotted turtles are threatened in Maine, and cannot be possessed (regardless of CB status, etc.) without a permit.

Further, according to Levell (2nd addition), the only turtle species on Maine's unrestricted wildlife list is the red-eared slider. ALL other species require a permit to import/possess. These permits are different from the threatened/endangered species permits, and are probably much easier to obtain.

Better do some checking!
