Hello everyone!

Pardon my ignorance and stupidity but im just wondering about Viper Boas. Are they venemous? Are they somewhat like an ETB? Haha(laughs at self). Thanks for any info.

Country:
All boas are non-venomous. Viper boas are part of the Candoia family. They are small poo-brown snakes that naturally feed on lizards and amphibians in the wild, but may be trained to take rodents in captivity. WC specimens can be a bit problematic in captivity, so it is best to go with CBB if you can find.

Candoia aspera... Candoia is the genus, not the family. Being Boas, they are in family boidae, subfamily boinae.

The name comes mostly from the shape of the head, which is more angular than most boids. They're small snakes... but tend to be somewhat defensive and will frequently nip. They're picky about environmental concerns, instinctively want to eat frogs and often have heavy parasite loads.

Not bad captives if you obtain established feeders and have a bit of experience manipulating environmental conditions... One of my personal favorites, but there are a lot of reasons why they aren't more popular.

LOL. Thanks. I did some reasearch on the net and found some pictures of them and thought they looked like actual little boas kind of like a tree or ground boa then I saw a site that had both names for it. I went into my herp book and looked for a ground boa and there it was. Same thing. LOL. Thanks.

They are called viper boas because there head lookes like a viper head instead of a real boa head. They are also fat.
