where should I look for C. viridis?

I plan on going out looking for some prairie rattlers this spring and summer as they are native to north dakota, however I"m wondering where I should look for them

I'm not wondering about where in the state, but I'm wondering about
1. time of day?
2. under rocks, in brush, out basking...where do they spend time?

any help would be appreciated
