I am going to Vietnam this June and I was wondering is there any way I can ship or what ever lizards back to the states? I really don't think I can, but you never know.. Does the air port have any machines that can sence herps .... maybe in your pockets....LOL... I am asking this now because if I needed to send papers and what not to get approved by someone, I would not be rushed. Does anyone what a G. araneus when I come back???? hahaha

You should not be taking any animals from the wild back home...first off its mean since they are living a great life and all of a sudden thrown into a box...and second wc animals do not make good pets, or animals...they can be very sick!! Just find, look, take some pictures maybe and release! DO NOT TAKE ANY HOME PLEASE!!

Yeah ill have to second the not bringing anything home. Its just a bad idea. WC animals do not do well in captivity and are a bad idea. Plus you dont want to bring something back and have it die. Leave the wild population alone because we need it there. Pics are a better idea. Plus I dont think customs would even remotely let anything into the country like that without papers, plus getting papers on a wild animal would be impossible IMO.
Cheers,
Ryan

He never said WC. Maybe he know someone who sells captive bred that isn't offered here. Sorry, don't know anything about bringing them back.

you three are all right, if its wild caught then dont do it, but if its captive then talk to the air port and the area which you live cuz some places dont allow people in the city to have certian animals (like some cities say no pit bulls, no alligators, etc)

You might get some info from the USFWS website. I'm pretty sure they're the ones who'll be inspecting the animals when the get to the US.

Contact Fish & Wildlife. You will need to have an inspection by then upon re-entry, as well as they will be able to point you in the right direction for learning the procedures and laws about exporting animals from Vietnam. In addition, you will need to find out if the animals you are interested in are CITES listed. Appendix II animals require import/export permits on both ends. Appendix I animals cannot be imported in to the US anymore, as far as I know.
