Sexing by tails?

Of course visually sexing most boids is next to impossible, however I was just looking at my little guy and was wondering if it is possible to make a good guess at sex based on tails, such as with colubrids? They are so slender and defined, not as clunky as other boids, I can notice a drop-off after the vent... is this at all a method that can be used with these snakes?

Hi Linds,

In my opinion its far easyer to sex "boas" by looking at tales than with colubrids. Its really easy when you get used to it. I'd say you get close to 100% accuracy with adult ones. I always pop though for babies or probe them when bigger.

I was just wondering because I only know how to probe snakes, but haven't been taught how to pop them. My little ATB is still to small to even attempt probing, and I woudln't feel comfortable trying to pop him/her. Visually so far looks to be a girl, let's hope I am right...lol

I am hoping to get the little one paired up, but do not want to wait for her to get older before looking for a boyfriend.
