i just got a mexican black king but i have noticed that it has some light markings on its underbelly. i always though they were completely jet black. can they have these markings or does it mean they may be a differentsub-species?

Country:
They are usually, but not always, jet black as adults. Juveniles often have speckling though.

Andy is correct They do indeed often have speckling as hatchlings as juvis, and sometimes even adults hold on to some of it..especially on the underside/under the chin/ etc.

Here's a pic of my Mex. Black when I first got her. You can see some spotting down her back, and if you look close she has some on her belly behind her head. She lost all the specks down her back, and only has a few on her belly anymore (little over a year old).
