I think they used some of the donations to buy some new Balls from The Keeper, or whatever he calls himself.

Yeah..... I hear that...... I just think it was kind of rude to ask people for their hard earned cash to get his pythons back........ People get stuff stollen from them all the time......... It is a little rediculous........ Especially when he was gonna use the snakes to make himself alot of money ripping people off........ Thats how I see it......... I guess it really is not that hard to sucker people into handing out money....... Maybe there was a lesson learned here........ Maybe now he will get a home security system and take some inssurance out on his animals........ A couple of my high end animals have a chip injected in them........ It is not very expensive to do......... Oh and it also helps to keep your mouth shut about things you have sometimes..... Anyway, I just wanted to see how things went with that......... I still think it was rediculous and rude to ask for help like that........ It was not a life or death situation or even an emergency for that matter........ Some people have some pair.......

Are you sure about that? I was pretty sure that there wasn't any "donations", but just reward pledges that would be collected if the culprit(s) were caught. No one has been caught, so I'm not sure what money is being used to buy any new snakes for Mr. Houston from Dan and Colette.

Everyone's got an opinion on it, including me (I didn't think it was a good idea the way it was handled), but I never heard Jeff Houston ASK for anything. Can you direct me to where he asked for anyone's help? I just want to see for myself.
Thanx.

Jeff Houston didn't ask for anything. Dan and Colette set it up on their own.
No money has even been given yet, either, because the suspect has not been caught. I pledged $200 and it will be given when the time comes. That's why it is called a pledge. It's a promise that you will donate the money.
The purpose of the pledges (and the donations when the time comes) is to be given as a reward to anyone who has information leading to the capture of the person who stole the animals. Not to fund Jeff's new snake collection. Hopefully he will get his stolen collection back, because hopefully someone who has information will see dollar signs ($50,000 of them) and come forward.
No, it wasn't a life or death situation, but when you've put tens of thousands of dollars into something and someone steals it from you, wouldn't you hope that someone would do the same thing for you? I know I would.

Typically when a person is caught and there is a reward, they assign a certain percentage of the credit to the informant.
If you're the only way the person would have been caught they may assess you the whole amount. If it just seals the deal they might only give you a portion.
People pledged what they thought it would be worth to catch the perpetrator. Even if the person is caught there's no guarantee everyone would have to put forward 100 percent of their pledge.

I pledged $200 because I felt sorry for the guy.
The money has not been called for yet, I would not pay my pledge if it was to pay for the replacement collection, but that was understood in the pledge agreement.
It would be nice to hear of any future developments, I would send the money if the snakes were found, I feel sorry for the guy at any rate.

There weren’t any juvenile tiger retics in the stolen collection where there? I got an e-mail from someone in NJ who found one in a pillow case on the side of the road. Not sure what the demand is for tiger retics now but seemed a little odd for it to be abandon by the owner so perhaps another theft.
Greg, are your high-end animals pets or do you plan to breed them and sell offspring? I still don't see how that would necessarily be ripping people off. If someone wants to buy something and you work to provide it I'm thinking that is a good thing.

Hey Randy,
Ofcourse I sell my highend stuff..... But I sell it at fair prices........ Most of the offsping I produce (non venomous) goes to friends and family for little or nothing........ Some of my hots are donated and sold to qualified buyers........ Some are given away to people.......... Infact, as soon as my female gaboon drops a pair of her babies will be going to a person named Scott that frequents the Vnomous forum here for nothing........ You just have to pay the delta bill scott......LOL....... Anyway Randy, thanks for clearing some things up for me in the other forum......... I did oppologize for being somewhat rude myself.......... Have a good day.......
