off topic / brave or dumb?

I think we could use a guy like this around the place when it comes to cranky gators and African rocks. He doesnt seem to be afraid of anything - the elk he is sawing the antler off is already dead, and the one he is trying to free by doing so is not very happy, either.

Nice rack

Did the elk die in combat?

The elk were locked together, most likely due to conflict. If they had not been found, both would have met certain death, as they either die of exhaustion and hypothermia, or starvation, or a combination of both. It is not uncommon to find one or both animals dead. I have the sequence of photos saved, that shows the freed bull walking away.

Plenty of hide their to make some nice jackets and pants, along with some nice antler buttons if the meat has to go.

He probably wasn't in as much danger as it looks. By that time the surviving bull would be weak and just want to get away and begin to recover.

It's nice to see someone stop to help an animal in distress.

In buddies eyes it was probably neither brave or dumb, just something that needed to be done. Good for him. Mark

That was really awesome of him to save the animal, if I came across something like that and knew what I was doing, I'd do it too.

Yeah, I'd want to do it - but look at those antlers!

Chances are, the winning buck still would want a fight, and I sure would feel nervous if I were on the end of the saw or recetnly freed antler.

That guy is brave and nobel!
