Hi all, I'm building a 8 foot long by 8 foot wide by 6.6 foot high vivarium for my burmese pythons there is gonna he shelves in there so they can rest on them there is also gonna be a small pool in there as well i was wondering how many burmese pythons would i be able to keep in there if the average lengh was 15 foot i will post pics when it done.

In all reality you could house one burm in a 8 foot long X 4 foot wide X 2-4 feet high and you would be doing ok for a 15 foot snake. the say to have 1 square foot of flore space per square feet if snake and a 8 X 4 X 4 gives you 32 square feet of floor space. You can make the cage longer if you like and wider too but Burms are snakes that just pick a spot and chill for a while and then move and pick another spot a few days after.

I don't recomend tall cages for burms simply cause they are harder to regulate temps, humidity and they just don't use the hight. It is also just plain safer for the snake. If you should have a stroke of bad luck and your burm slips off one of thows shelves and slames it self hard enugh to break a rib you are gona pay for it and not just it $$$ for vet bils but also If you thaught retic's or anacondas had a bad temper try messing with a Burm that is in pain you will never look at the species the same way ever again.

also one animal per cage at all times wether it be a Ball python in a 40 gallon aquarium, a Boa in a 75 liter Rubermaid or a burm in a coustom built cage no use stresing the animals buy housing them together unles they are breeding there is no reason to have more then one snake per cage.

OK first off I don't have any large snakes but lets think about this. I'm assuming the height is so you can have a walk in enclosure. There is a good possibility that if you went in there with more than one snake that you are going to have your back to one while dealing with another. I don't think I would want my back turned on a 15'+ snake. How about feeding? You're going to have to seperate them every time. That seems like quite a hassle. Also these snakes ARE going to get bigger. what then? I imagine I you cut the height and depth in half and made 2 stackin enclosures you would be better off.

the reason i'm gonna build a viv this size is to allow them the have more exercise space and in there current 8-3-3 theres no room for a pool and i only can put 2 ten foot burms in there but in a 8-8-6.6 i can build hides and shelves which a 8-3-3 is restricted to i was wondering if people couldgive me any ideas on heating a viv this size i'm gonna use heat tubes and heat wire under the viv so the floor is gonna be warm at all times but if there any sugestion that will be great
