how the......

hey,

well i am a bit mixed up here, but when you breed 2 blizzards together you get all blizzard off spring right? but what happens when you breed 1 blizzard to say, my tangerine female. will this produce blizzards and hets or just hets?

well i am about to start a project and i would just like to know. well thanks.

i'm by far not a genetic's expert but am pretty sure u woudlnt get blizzrd offpsring you would need to breed a blizzard to a blizzard or a blizz to a het or het to a het n hope to get some... but hey i'm not a pro here.. just going by what i think.. i think blizzard is one of the morphs that you need it to be present in both parents.

LOL

Laurier -- in order to get blizzard offspring, you either have to breed to another blizzard, or to an animal that is het for blizzard (hence the "in the closet" blizzard comment ) While it's possible for your tang to be het for blizzard, it's quite unlikely unless you actually purchased the animal as such.
Assuming that your tang isn't het for blizzard, what you'll end up with is 100% of the babies being het for blizzard. If you were to breed one of these babies back to the blizzard parent, you would then have a chance of getting blizzard offspring.

What you would get would be some nice looking hets if you bred a tang to a blizzard. All offspring would be 100% het for blizzard and some would have some nice tang colours and others would be a little more normal looking. Good Luck!

Blizzard is a simple recessive gene. What that means is both animals need to be carrying the gene for Blizzard. Its the same with albinos and patternless. Some people are breeding tangerines to blizzards in order to make hets in the hope of making tangerine blizzards. I have heard of some being produced already but have yet to see any. Most het animals tend to look like normals in my opinion. Accept in the case of albino hets for patternless and vice versus. When people talk about hets they are referring to animals who carry the gene for a simple recessive trait. You can't have het tangerines for example because tangerine is not a simple recessive gene. People sometimes refer to this as phenotype and genotype. An animals phenotype is what it is actually showing on the outside. Genotype is the animals underlying genes that may or may not be presenting themselves. Projects involving hets are a great way to improve bloodlines, afford higher priced bloodlines, and create new ones. Hope this helps out some.
