Cage Set Up

This pic shows how I set up my BRB cages. Each end of the enclosure(a large sterilte tub) has a smaller Sterilite tub for hides. The hide on the cool side is filled with damp paper towels. I use a water bowl large enough for her to soak in and she does from time to time. Here is the pic...

As you can see she does use that water bowl lol! She is opaque in the pic. After trying several things this set up works the best for me. The local paper fits in there perfectly and cleaning is a snap. I can mist the newspaper if I need to but find that the water bowl and the wet hide keeps the humidity high enough. The lid adds a little more height and she spends a lot of time laying on top of the hiders also. I put tape on the hides to keep out light. She is only about 5 ft now and if she outgrows this tub I have a bigger tub to move her to.

Thanks Invictus she isn't as red as our other two but has a nice orange look.

I use 3 in flexwatt across one end for heat. It is hooked up to a dimmer and set at 90F for the hot spot. The ambient cool side temp is 78-80F. I am not sure how many quarts the tub is but it is about 18 by 40 inches.

JDOUGLAS:

Real nice BRB and set up looks alot like the way I set them up till they reach adulthood and then they are transfered to my custome larger cages, but the idea stays the same 2 hies, high humidity and watering hole.

Nice set and post.

Cya...

You know, that looks absolutely perfect, well to me anyways. I'm going to borrow and modify slightly( my brb is alot smaller than yours right now) that idea I think my "Promise" would rather enjoy that set up....as would I. It looks so much cleaner.

The water bowl, with lid is an excellent idea. You've solved my how to stop the water from spilling in Promise's tub. Thank you for this post

Beautiful girl ya got there too

Thanks Tony & Christina. I started using the spill proof lids a few years ago with one of my racks. Every time I would pull open or push shut a tub the water would slosh and go everywhere. Now I use lids like this in all of my cages. I love Gladware! It comes in all different sizes and is easy to clean.

BT,
Yes I also post on MMA.TV. I use the same name on every forum I go to.

We'll see who wins the rematch if there is one!

It is a Sterlite brand tub. They are sold at Target stores. The BRB is a 5 ft female and is not full grown. She will get to at least six feet I would guess.
