How big is your Blood?
I'm just curious to see how big other bloods are out there. My female is about 4ft and weighs around 25 lbs.

Mine is still really young, and I haven't measured her yet, but I'm guessing she's around 2 feet... I'll see if I can get a more accurate measurement.

Here's a female I produced in 1993. She's 7 feet long and weighs at least 36 pounds. She's one of those big dopey red blood pythons that is as tame as any ball python (but harder to lift).

Ah, those are the best kind!! I love big dopey bloods. Yours especially is a screamer... and 7 feet?!?!?!?! WOW. Good size. I'd expect it to be a lot more than 36 pounds at that length though, are you sure those measurements are accurate?

Great blood Joan!
if anything, i think your much more likely to see a 7 foot at 36 lbs then a 4 ft at 25 lbs...
this 4 year old female at 6 feet was only 25 lbs...
and all of my 4 footers were inbetween 10-15 lbs.

My guy is really little an like 22 inches....is there anyway to tell the colour they are gonna have when they are older. Joan's is completely red and Grants is a more muted colour...Both look incredibly cool. But can you tell when they are young ??

So Grant, when someone comes over to your place, they have to take their shoes off, but put a cap on?
Hi Ken – yes I’m definitely sure on those dimensions. As the photo below shows, it’s plenty easy to make a docile blood or two lie still for a measurement! That’s a 6 foot Vision cage behind them and the tape is extended out 2 feet on the side. The smaller one was 6 feet long and about 25 pounds then, so I agree with Grant on his size estimates. The 7 footer looks a bit on the chubby side, even though it’s an earlier photo than the one above.

My mistake, I thought they got MUCH heavier than that when they got to 6 or 7 feet. I mean, I have a 7' boa that weighs 12 pounds, but he is of course, nowhere near as thick as a blood.
Nonetheless Joan, you have amazing bloods.
