My set up is nothing fancy.
I get 1000 crix at a time, use a 10g aquarium with a homemade lid...lots of egg carton, tp rolls, papertowel rolls and food.....nothing fancy.

Make sure they are given really good circulation to let the smell of the egg carton to get out..and you should change the cartons when it starts to smell bad..also make sure they are given water which could be put in a piece of spung so they dont drown..make sure they have enough food too..maybe that will help

I clean the tank at least once a wk.
The cardboard stuffs are replaced at the cleaning, or before if they are yucky.
The top on my tank is screen to allow ventalation.
They are kept cool in my basement.
I would estimate losing maybe 5% of them.

Keep it very cool and try not to let it get too damp in there. Water in a sponge gives them moisture without it getting into the cardboard. The high moisture levels leads to alot of cricket deaths.

Ok, well I have discovered a method that is absolutely PERFECT. I get crickets by the thousand, and rarely have more then 25 dead by the time I finish with them. Here is what I do:
I use a fairly big pail, more tall then wide. At the bottom, I put some thin wood shavings at the bottom. This helps in multiple ways, the main being that waste falls to the bottom of the pail and the crickets are not walking all over it. Another wonderful attribute to adding the wood shavings is that it absorbs all the access moisture. Second, I put about 6 peices of egg carton in. Third, and what I find most important, is a water source. I find potatoes work excellently for this. I peel the potatoes and slice them into eight peices. Then of course is the food souce / gut load. I feel them the same mixture I feed my veggie loving reptiles. I replace the egg cartons weekly. I end up with clean, healthy, properly gut loaded crickets with an extremely low mortality rate.

the best is a deep tupperware with cartons in it. then ther are easy to get without alot escaping. the best is actually a big garbage can. deeper teh better in my opinion.
