Natrual looking setup need ideas

I have a few ?'s for everyone and was hoping to pick your brains for some ideas on how to set up the permenent enclosure, for my Sumatran Blood. What sort of substrate should i use that will hold humidity well? and look good too and is also easy to clean. Also I Want this tank to be a really nice display tank, as it pretty much will be the main focus of my living room. What sort of things should go into it, and where can i find what you suggest. I Know your typical tings like 2 hides and a large water dish but what could i use that would give it the natural look? Just hoping to get some ideas . Thanks for your time

Hey, I always thought about that. I think it would take a much larger enclosure than a regular sized 4ft x 2ft x 2ft to make a nice display.

I think mulch could be used and a large tree half with a nice hole in the center could be a nice hide or a few smooth slate rocks with nicely sanded edges, glued togther with silicone would work as a dry hide.

for a humid hide you'd have to get ur imagination goin. I'd take a nice sized tub and put a hole in it and grab alot of dried (really dry) leaves. Lots of silicone and silicone them together to make it look like a leaf pile. Go to the store and at fall color leaves (red, yellows oranges) to go with your blood the motif

of the room.

Then you can put straight tree branches, maybe 2 or three that are vertical and about 3 or 4 inches thick. They will be cut on bothe sides str8 and then placed so that they fit perfectly to the bottom and top of the tank with a little tension. These will serve or look like trees.

I'm pretty sure this is what I'm going for in my bedroom as the same thing will be happening to my room. My bloods will be the Motif of my room.

In order to do something like this you'd have to think of the size the snake is or can get. all these decorations in a 4ft x 2ft x 2ft would definatly leave ur snake with no room. But just imagine a blood in a type of setup like this who has some awsome red and yellow coloration.........WHOA!

Man those are some great ideas. Im thinking about doing a natural setup myself and those are some great ideas. Another cool idea is if you have enough room, get a cat litter pan and silicon small pebbles to the inside of it so it looks like a natural pond. Ive used this once for a water dragon setup and it looked really cool. But you gotta have the room.

These buggers are strictly ground-dwellers, so try not to use up too much space with climbing branches they will never come close to using. Pothos vines may make a nice cover for the upper parts of the terrarium, but I would strongly discourage you from using live plants and even fake ones wherever your blood may wander. They will get destroyed in almost no time at all. Stick to strudy logs and the like that your snake can hide under.

Another nice thing I thought about adding to take advantage of vertical space was a shelf or two in the back of the setup and on the side. They must be very strong though.

Well i'll have to see when i have time and the $$$ to build it x-mas for the kiddies tapped me compleatly . but hopefully not too long into the new year.
