Burm Cage

Currently i am housing my female albino burm in a 82X48 inch wood cage, its big but it sucks, it dosent heat very well, it dosent hold humidity well, the glass has been broken ex. ex. well i was thining about buying her a nice new plasic cage and get a proporational thermostat you know the works, but i am a little consened on the size of the cage. so do you guys think a 72X24 inch cage would be ok? and what size cage do u guys keep your snakes in?

Mike, I think the cage she's in now is fine. With a few adjustments heating won't be a big problem. The cage I have my burm in is as big as yours and is heated great with a radiant heat panel and rheostat. AND! It is kept in the garage. The cage there is nice, but if you really wanna just spend more money on a smaller cage than you're really not thinking about how big the snake will eventually get. Did you see the cage Jim keeps Blondie in? Ask how he's got it all heated

jim has a big kane heat pad (ther like 150 bux) and i think his room stays pretty hot. but i was thinking about it cuz the bottom of the cage is all Fu*ked up and it needs new glass, and it needs new side boards, it just nees new lots of stuff so thats y i was thinking about getting a new one.

I really like your cage though. You know if you got it all heated up well that would be awesome . The plexiglass didn't look too bad when I was last there. Is it worse? I think another cage will just be wasting any money you could use on repairing the cage she is in now and buying better heating equipment. A 100W radiant heat panel is about $80 and a rheostat is about $20 from Herpsupplies.com. My cage got so hot on the warm side that Shakira went to the other side and I had to turn it down lol. I think you're snake will be happier in the long run with your custom built cage.

It's just a thought Trying to be helpful here

the plexy glass has a big chuck broken out of it and has to be replaced soon, the sheet alone is 50 bux for the cheap stuff, because my cage is so tall. the good stuff runs a bit more, the bottom is all screwed up and she is not likeing it, also the humidity thing wont hold it worth ****, so by the time i fix all that **** i would be better off spending the $$ and buying a new cage, also i want one i can stack.

Well Mike if you really want a new cage then by all means go for it. your decision, your snake... you just want to make her happy . My recommendation is Animal Plastics http://animalshare.wantapet.com/ani...errestrial.html . They have some nice big cages for great affordable prices. I will be jealous if you get one, but hey... I might be getting one or two of these cages as well, after I get a retic . Good luck!!
