Field Guide Author Passes

FYI for those who got started in this hobby with native USA species and
the Field Guide to Reptile and Amphibians of the Eastern United States and
Canada might like to know that Roger Conant passed away on Friday..he was 94..and passed away in his sleep after a long illness...I know I used his field guide a thousand times every time I needed to identify a snake/lizard I came across. His field guide brought a light into the dark....Thanks Roger

It's sad to loose such an icon in the herp world. At least we have the pleasure of knowing that he not only lived until 94, but that he has always been more than willing to share his knowledge with others, whether through his books, conversations or attending shows (IHS), he was always insightful
