Soaking during a shed

Well I think Fred is going to go through his first shed in his new home. His eyes aren't blue but they have definitely lost some of their definition and he has started soaking.

I keep a digital hygrometer in his tank at all times so I know the ambient humidity is always around 60 - 70% (it seems to go up and down but never below 60%, unless I take the lid off then it drops to 40%). But what I'm wondering is, since he is soaking should I start misting and bring the humidity up to 80% or will he be fine with just soaking and 60%?

He should be able to hadle it on his own in those conditions but a few spays a day won't hurt.

I agree.. spray him anyway. It might annoy him a bit, but it's for his own good.

Hmmm.... I don't think I would want a few spays a day.
LMAO! Now there is one of the funnier typos I've ever read here.

Back to the topic at hand...

When my bp goes into shed, I just put a second water bowl in and put it over the heatmat. It does the trick

I would think that 60+% relative humidity and soaking would be enough. Very few of my snakes soak, the ones that don't, coupled with a humidiity level of 60% seem to shed just fine.

Well here is Fred soaking from last night.

Humidity was 59% last night, this morning it was 68% I'll give it a good mist to get it around 80% don't think it will do any harm, can only help.

you said his eyes have not turned yet, and that made me think of some thing. check for mites, he could be releaving the itch from mites, OR he could have gone blue on you and not notice it. just thought id mention it.

If the snake is soaking, then he doesn't need to be sprayed. It is soaking in 100% humidity. Mine doesn't soak so I add an extra bowl to the enclosure to raise the humidity. Your snake is just giving you a break. Be thankful.
