Aquarium backgrounds
Hey, if any of you have seen my enclosures, I always use a background to cover three of the walls of the tank for increased security for my snakes.
My mom helped me put them on, but I HATE the method used so I was wondering how you're REALLY supposed to put on aquarium backgrounds.
She just put it on the outside so the snake won't get under it and scotch taped the thing.

Scotch tape here too. I'm thinking of trying double-sided tape.

I tape it too, but use clear packing tape.

When we use backgrounds we cut them so they are a bit wider than the glass (top to bottom) and slip the top and bottom edges under the black plastic that is around the top and bottom of the tank. It takes a bit of manipulation sometimes to get the plastic backing seated under the plastic edges, but then we just stretch the backing and use scotch tape along the ends of it. We only cover the back of our tanks and use white posterboard on the ends between cages so snakes cannot see each other. We found it too hard to make the plastic aquarium backing go around the corners to get a neat look.

Lately I have been using leftover artwork framing matte that I have lying around. Being thick it does not allow light through, plus comes in many designer colors. It it is useful for small tanks and uses up the scraps I have left. Plus, I think it it does not look so bad.

Both my tanks are all clear for now, i don't have anything on the walls.
I can't find anything nice to use as a background...

I cut the background with a razorblade to the right size. Then i get out the wonderful scotch tape. I also only put it on the back and not the 2 sides.
I have been wanting to spray paint them but i also want it to look good. So i was thinking about make patterns (stencils) and using them with spray paint.
