My first attempt at building a boa cage.
Well here it is. Big thanks to Mark who was the one who really built it.
It's 5'x2'x18".
The door is one piece that opens down. The glass is 3'.7" long by 15.5 high.
This shot shows the door jam and the top brace. The plywood was not thick enough for the length of the cage so I had to add some support.
This last pic shows the bottom. You can see how the hinges are attached just under the toe board. You can also see the cross suport. There is a 2" space under the cage for the heat pad.
The plywood was finish one side so all that's left now is to sand it, paint it and seal it and install the vents.
Thanks for looking,
Trevor

Thanks. It was easy to build but next time I am going to go with melamine and sliding glass front. Plywood is no fun to build with. Not to mention now I have to put more time into the finishing work then I did into the construction of it.
Cheers,
Trevor

Hi Trevor,
It looks Great bro, what will the substright (sp) be, if other than newspaper (at any point) you may want to consider a small dam.

Thanks Brian. There is a 1" door jam around the inside of the door. On the floor of the cage it does act as a dam incase of a flooded water bowl. For substrate I'll be using news paper.
Cheers,
Trevor

good design...but poor material choice.....this is not a bash....just experince....plywood is next to imposible to clean..and any stain thats put on will be toxic......and just as another tip....cut and finish all vents be fore you start finishing work....alot of times you'll end up with small flaws that could have been prevented.....looking forward to seeing the melamine version. nice to see that people are building cages bigger and bigger....

Agreed!

I'm going to paint it both inside and out with a water based laytex concrete floor paint.

That's the plan, thanks for the tips!
