Why are people so rude??
I was on a nano reef site, I was posting in the beginner forum and I had 2 people jump down my throat because I didn't know what a type of sand was. I just don't get why people are so rude to others??

I wouldn't let it get you down. "experts" get very impatient with noobs who don't know everything about everything. Being in a beginner forum, you would expect people to be kinder and more understanding, but hey, some people are jerks.
Hope it works out for you.

Or some people just have a bad day, most of my grumpy posts are while i'm at work, and it's never a good day there.

well most MODS and experts are just A##holes and think that if you dont follow their ways then your wrong. They all have egos and believe they are god like.
So go ahead and listen to what the nice and considerte people are saying. They will generally give good info and if not just go to a website and read the care sheets

I know jeff. I actually did a while ago. I decided to try this place because it's made just for SW tank keepers. I don't think I'll go back there. I guess I just got used to this place and forgot it's a mean harsh world on the other forum places Jeff and Shane and all the Mods have done an AWESOME job keeping this place nice. If you cross the line one too meny times your gone. I did listen to what the other people said that's actually why someone got rude I asked about a sand someone else told me about. Anyway, I would like to thank all the people here for being so nice.

I've been on both sides of the arguement, and personally for me, the answer is poor genetics.

Sounds cool. It's really too bad that there are people still out there like that. We can clone sheep and put men in space but we can't seem to be able to be kind to one another.

I hear ya, some people are just @ssholes, and don't understand that the new person is asking to learn in order to prevent any future mistakes. I've answered the same question several times on here to beginners, and, I really don't mind, because I realize that they're just seeking information.
