Another ovulation tonight
Well this makes number four! Some of you may recognize this girl from last year, this is one of the "supposed" het for albino females that was bred to my albino male and produced all phenotypically normal offspring (although all 100% het). This year she was bred to another one of my albino males to decide whether her non-albino offspring last year was a fluke or whether she is, in fact, not het for albino.
The following pictures of her ovulation occurred at 9:23pm tonight. Please excuse the dim light, crinkled paper and dirty cage as breeding sometimes is a messy business.
Chris

How can you tell a snake is ovulating, and the time down to the min.? This may be a common knowledge, but then again, I've never bred snakes before....

I saw that she was ovulating and I looked at the clock.
As far as knowing when a boa ovulates, well... it's usually a large localized swelling. It will usually be slightly lower than where a meal would sit. Sometimes it can be hard to notice, but for the most part, it is usually quite pronounced. Almost like it ate something it shouldn't have!

Thanks JD! When you see them do it in person, it looks way more intense! I just wish I could capture it with a pic.
