Snakes in Dominican Republic???

I'm going on holiday!!! Yay!

We're going to Dominican Republic for two weeks, and we are trying to find out what snakes are native to that island.

Unsuprisingly the guidebooks don't say anything, except a line about "there are snakes in the brush and forest but nothing that is harmful to humans"!

Fine, but we're looking for a bit more detail, and any advice on actually going out and having a look for things... not the usual tourist pastime, it seems! LOL.

Any pointers would be incredibly helpful... please....

cheers,
Briggy

I herped Puerto Rico in 1998. There is a rare boa on those islands. That would be an amazing find. I didn’t see any, but good luck to you!

Chuck,
Yeah, I've found some internet references about the boas - it seems there are several species throughout the Caribbean.

I guess finding ANY would be an amazing find!

Any tips on where and how to go about looking?

cheers,
Briggy
