If they are both het, you'd get a 25% chance of each egg hatching an albino...

Hello, you can pick up a male het albino for about $400. This is a much better idea then waiting for three years to raise the babies that you hatched out from your original normal to het breeding to prove it out.

For sure! OR you could get a 100% het male and like three 50%-66% possible het females.... price it out and see what's best for you.

Well I'm using a 100% het male this year that I borrowed from a friend because my males are too young this year. I'm really considering getting a 100% het female because by the time I raise all the 50% females and breed them back to this male or my males I'm looking at quite a time line.
Let's see, the het breeds my three females and they hatch out babies this summer, summer of 2004. Then I have to raise those babies, aprox 18 months. So they are ready for the 2005 season. They breed and their eggs hatch no earlier then 2006. So with just male hets I'm not going to see any albinos until at least 2006. Then it will take another 12-18 months depending on sex before I produce any 100% hets from that albino. Gee I wonder what the price will be in 2007 for hets? This ofcourse is all dependent upon everything working out perfectly.
Moral of the story, I think I need a 100% het female now!
Cheers,
Trevor
