My Pride 'n Joy...Jamaican Boa Female
Here is a full-body shot of my big girl. Pardon the pic quality, but my full-body shots never seem to come out right.
She's seven feet long (and yes, she has a stub-tail from an accident when she was a tiny baby) and weighs 12.5 pounds.
I think this pic does show off her bright-yellow "lightning strike" markings, though...
She is extremely powerful for her size, and has a massive head with very powerful jaws, for a snake. This is one of the most impressive snakes that I've ever handled. I love her immensely.
I'll try to get a pic up of the male later tonight...
Thanks for looking,
Simon

Thank you very much for the kind words, everyone!
Hi Invictus: Epicrates subflavus seems to be quite variable in colouration. The babies are a bright, kind of "brick-orange" with darker black and brown markings. From what I've seen of my two litters, the babies all seem to look pretty much identical. Very little individual variation is noticeable from a casual glance..
As they grow, they change, and it can be difficult to know what they'll look like.
I have been told that my female is exceptionally pretty, and honestly, compared to some that I've seen from overseas collections, I have to agree. I have seen an adult male with very bright orange all over the neck region and bright orange banding - gorgeous.
My male is much smaller and coloured differently from the female. He has just gone into a shed, so I'll post pics when he's done. Sometimes it's difficult to believe that the male and female are the same species, lol!
Nick; I have heard that they may attain a length of over ten feet. I know a gentleman in the U.S. who has, I believe, an eight-foot male!
Thanks again,
Simon

Hi Gaboon,
She's a Jamaican Boa (Epicrates subflavus).
Cheers!
