How long......

Ok everything is all set up, the thing has been "curing" for about 2 days.

it has been about 40-50 degrees during the day and about 30-40 degrees at night, while the cage was set on the porch....How long do you think it will be before I can put my snake in it?

It seemed fine. But I put the UTH under it to start to test the temps and I closed the door, about 4 hours later I opened it to feel the bottom of the cage and the "fumes" just came out. Not REAL strong, but definitly there.......the cage is inside now sitting on a table.........

I assume the temps you gave were in Farenheight?

Most paint and adhesives will not cure properly at those temps. Check the labels, and give them several days to dry before putting your snake in the new enclosure. The testing with the UTH was a good idea I think. If you're planning on using a basking spotlight as well you should set that up too just to make sure that you aren't overheating any surfaces.

We were testing the temps to see if we needed the basking light. But we don't. Tonight the smell is not half as bad as it was last night.

What is it that you are curing? Paint? Stain? Epoxy? These all have VERY different cure times and temperatures.

I'd bring it indoors, I don't think any paint will properly cure at the temps you mentioned above.

Slannesh is correct. Oil based enamel should be cured at room temperature. Keep your heat source on it though - give it about a week and all should be well (assuming the smell is gone, of course.)

It is inside! lol....and right now outside it's abouit 70! my UTH is staying on it, and the temps are about 70-75 Degree's cool side and 90-92 degrees (highest I've seen it) hot side. the smell is definitly going away........

the problem is when I close it the vapors build up.........so it is still obviously off gassing....or whatever you want to call it......?????? It's been about 5 days now.....
