baths?

I have read in some other forums about bathing pythons, should I be bathing mine regularly or only when she has problems sheding/defecating?
she has a water bowl that is more that big enough for her to fully submerge herself in and does go in it on her own at night.
thanks!

Oh yeah, she hatched in august of this year if that makes a difference, and the breeder said she may be going into shed soon

No need to bath your snake unless it has been sitting in dirty, feces ridden water or has feces smeared on it. It won't hurt to soak your snake in clean water now and then but it's not necessary.

I agree with Cranwill. Although balls are awesome swimmers, they hate water. Chances are the only thing you will accomplish is stressing out your snake. Just make sure her humidity levels are adequate, and she has access to clean water at all times and that should be fine. Ground dwelling snakes rarely ever experience any constipation, so I wouldn't be overly concerned with that.

thanks!! her humidity is constantly around 60% which I've read is fine...she also has a hide with damp, not wet, spagnum (sp?) moss in it. I've also read that I should increase humidity to 80% when she goes into shed...should I bother or will she be okay at her constant 60% (providing she's not having problems)
thnkas again!

i would raise the humidity a tiny bit, and i agree with lids and cranwill about soaking. my bp hates it, whenever he feels the water and see he's closed in a rubbermaid he FREAKS he flips and rolls and tries to get out as fast as he can.

No, don't bathe your snakes. Leave them alone. Set them up in their cages properly to begin with, and bathing is unnecessary.
