Lightbulb Enclosure conception

OK...so I don't have the time or money or space to build my own snake enclosure right now so I did the next best thing. I made a 3D model of an enclosure. This way I know what to expect when I do build one. It's a pretty simple design but I can alway try different design options on the model before I build it. What do you think? Any suggestions?

Thanks Tom,
I made the model in Autocad. I can change the materials, the lighting the view and anything else and render it to a picture file. Sure, I didn't get too much done at work today but I have snakes to think about...lol

How do you do that. I have autocadd and I think I know how to do 3D, but I definetely dont know how to do layers like that with textures and patterns. I would love to be able to do that to show people what they would be getting once I am done.

Greg

ps. I have Autocad 2000 and Autocad 2002 if it makes a difference.

Well...I don't want to give away my trade secrets...I should start a business and charge people who make cages to make models for them...

Acctually it's not too hard. If you can make 3D solid models in Autocad (version does not matter) then you are most of the way there. Read up on rendering...you can apply materials to objects and adjust the lighting to suit the model. It's hard to explain verbaly (by typing) so just try it out. Good Luck.

hey Mike .. here's the cage I'm currently modeling. It IS a great way to figure out the bugs before you build.

(I DO have a business modeling .. but mostly architectural and prototype .. haven't convinced anyone to give me money for cage models yet )

Looks a little like J worlds Design. I want to build one like this also. I need to figure out how to do the rendering.
