i have a pretty small cage for my bp, right now he's about a foot long and i was wondering if it is necessary to have a big cage for him right now or should i weight till hes bigger?
A regular 10Gallon cage should work for alittle while. But you may want to buy him something bigger now so you won't have to do it later and he can be comfortable.

That size is fine for his first year (or until he is 6" larger than he is now). Ball Pythons do best in snug enclosures, so you wouldn't want to throw him into a 3' enclosure at this stage.
