new girl

Some of you make recognize this girl from other ssnakess posts...my new ball python is the snake formerly known as jncoclub's female ball python, Pliskin. I've named her Marla Singer, but I keep calling her Pliskin by accident...I may have to change it back!

Marla seems to be in great health, and Jennifer was wonderful to deal with. She's two years old and three feet long...here some pics!

(I think I look slightly unhinged in that picture)

and, for good measure, one of lil' Huxley from September:

I haven't introduced her to Huxley yet, only because she's about a foot and a half longer than he is, and much thicker, and i reckon Hux'd freak out more than a little bit. One day, though...

Congratulations lilyskip! I can't wait till my bp gets bigger. And I'm glad Huxley has a new friend!

Good luck with her!

Very nice girl, lilyskip! She's huge, very thick around. Much larger than my little Annie, and yet almost the same age. How often does she feed?

Thanks everybody Marla's great...I'm really excited that now I have two snakes to divide up my time!

Sapphire--
hehe, I'm totally addicted. I think the corn will end up waiting for a little bit (I really, really like boids...my next snake will probably be a rosy), but I don't think I can resist corns for long...I just prefer the bigger ones.

Mom--
Thanks! I'm not exactly sure of her feeding schedule, since I just acquired her. I know she ate a medium/large rat once a week, but she went off feed for a few months, as well, so she didn't eat consistently.

hehe, thanks. she's great (mischievous, though!) Can't wait till Huxley's big enough for me to introduce them without a screen in the middle.

Thats a great name. Now you need a Tyler Durden. That should be the name of your corn if you get it. "Skinny guys fight to the death"

Whats their enclosure setup like? Are you keeping them in 1 tank thats been split in two? Are you going to be housing them seprately in the future?

Congratulations.

Haha! That's what my friends said, too, but I insist that I DO have a Tyler Durden...but only Huxley can see him.

Marla came with her own tank, so she's in a 55gal (we think) and Huxley is in his own 20gal. They've only met each other on opposite sides of the screen lids of their respective tanks.

I'm not sure if I'm going to house them together in the future as adults, but I think that would probably lead to unregulated breeding, and while I want them to breed eventually, I want it to be under my control. (Breeders--you don't house your breeding pairs together 24/7, do you?) I still need to do a lot of research on breeding before I even attempt it, and neither of the snakes is big enough yet. But I might get a Rubbermaid for Huxley when he gets too big for his tank.
