switching from live to frozen
I need some help... I've been trying to get my burms to switch to frozen but they just won't accept them. I've tried teasing them, scenting them with live, braining them, even tried feeding pre killed but they won't go for it they just come over as if they were going to strike then they back off. But as soon as I put a live one in POW they take it right away. Are there any other tricks I can use to get them to switch over. Any help would be appreciated.

im trying to get my ball python back on f/t. she used to take them but stopped for 5 weeks. Just yesterday i bought 3 live small rats. I fed her two of them live and one i put it in a bag and killed it. she took the f/k one fine. Next week im goin to by two live and one f/t. Ill feed one live to her and the other live one f/k and then the last one will be the f/t. then the week after that ill get one f/t and home she takes it. I hope it works.

Try super heating the rodent when thawing.

wut does that mean? just go past regular body temps? so that the mouse/rat is warmer than if it were live or f/k?

thanks i'll try heating them a little warmer and see if that helps.
I've already tried the live then fresh killed and that didn't work.
they used to take f/t all the time then all of a sudden refused.
I have a common boa that couldn't care less if the are alive or dead in fact he doesn't even bother constricting if he knows they are dead

It seems people are sucking out when it comes to switching over from live to f/t. If you're going to make the switch, don't try for three weeks, and if your snake doesn't take it, feed live again. What is this telling your snake? Answer: That if they wait 3 weeks between meals, they always get live food. If you're gonna do it, don't do it half-a$$ed, do it full force. Refuse your snake food unless it is a f/t item. Snakes aren't stupid, they'll take it eventually. They don't want to starve to death. It seems that the owners nerves usually give out WELL before the snakes' do. I had the same problem with 2 of my adult balls. They were both mice eaters, and I HATE mice. I breed rats, and dammit, they were gonna eat rats, AND they were gonna like it. Essentially, I starved one for 4 months worth of good feeeding time, and when I threw a rat in there, she took it no questions. The other snake was a wuss, three weeks without food and he was a bonafide rat eater also. Don't give up, be persistent, and have more staying power than the snake.

I had to switch a burm from live to dead a few monts ago I fed it one live and one F/K but I needed to shake it a bit to get him to think it was alive during the constriction proces and now I just give F/T and a few shakes and there that's it.
snakes dont alwase eat live in the wild some times they will eat dead if it so hapends to ocure not to long B4 for the found the prey item.

all i do with a f/t is just tap the snake on either side of its body where it cant see it will strike it 3 times usualy then realize its food and not let go

thanks for the advice if i have to starve the picky shits then i guess thats whats going to happen. I't not as if the rats are going to waste, my boa is having a field day taking their leftovers.

i herd a trick... if you take out the water bowl for a few days , then make the rodent wet, aparently the snake will get so in to the water that it will just start trying to eat to mouse
