Fir nuggets?

I was wondering if I could use fir nuggets for my snakes.I found a 2.5 cubic foot bag for $7.It looks exactly like orchid bark,but is fir.Would it be safe?

Others will know more but I would say no, I think fir is similar to pine as far as substrate goes. I hope this helps.

Yup. Mark is correct. All softwoods should be avoided because they contain phenols which vary in toxicity from type of wood. Fir is very mild, while cedar is powerful, often producing fatal results.
