How often do you clean your enclosures?
I thought the last thread lost its main point.
I have two kinds of enclosure setups:
1. Natural; a very nice display setup.
2. Generic; paper towels.
Natural:
The natural setups can go for quite a while without being deep cleaned. I use sand, aspen, bark, etc. to make a nice and appealing display setup. At every defecation I spot clean. Spot cleaning for this particular setup is fine because the substrate soaks up the liquid and allows for easy removal of waste. I change the substrate every 3 to 6 months.
Generic:
Everytime a water bowl is overturned or an animal defecates is when I change the substrate. This is a must for a generic setup because this setup lacks a substrate the can soak up fluids. There isn't really a need to deep clean (because it's done all too much; which is why I don't) but I'd say every 3 to 6 months is good.

Whenever it needs it. No set time-schedule. If its dirty every 2 days, then clean it every 2 days. If its clean for a month, then its left for a month. Animals are not static objects. They are dynamic, unpredictable and constantly changing. Therefore, so is my husbandry.

I have my corn snake on aspen and my bp on kitchin roll stuff, if I could I would put my bp on aspen but I can't cos he is difficult enough to feed in his viv! It's so much easyer to clean the aspen cos you can just get rid of the waste stuff without having to completely claen everytime, with kitchin roll I just replace the dirty square (s).

That was so poetic! It should be a reptile haiku or something.
