NEW SNAKE!!! *pics*
Well I went to PCPC after the Totally Pets Show and picked out my new addition...I had one problem when I got him home...he smelled snake on the towel he was on in the carrying case, and was trying to eat it! I put it in the cage and waited an hour and he wouldn't let go. I tried putting pinkies in just to make him catch the scent and try to eat them instead...didn't work. I eventually did the water thing and five minutes later, he detached himself. So, may I present the newest addition to my family. My new, CB 1.0 Black Kingsnake He's already eaten for me and is exploring his new home.
PS. Thank you Aaron for helping me out at PCPC and sexing him for me
THE INITIAL PROBLEM:
AFTERWARDS:
And finally....My Aunt FREAKING OUT because she thinks the Black Snake is evil. And my cat wanting to know what the hell is living with us now.
Enjoy!
Jenn

I personally love the colubrid more than any other snakes~ (well....maybe not.....)
Anyway nice photos and great pics!!
hope that you'll enjoy him!
Just remember to wash your hands before handling him after you have handled other things (ie other snakes, rats, mice, maybe your cat...lol)

That looks like a mexican black king (L. g. nigrita) rather than a black king (L. g. niger). Just wondering. It's semantics I know but it bugs me. Especially when I was looking for black kings and everyone kept showing me their Mex blks! lol. Pretty lil guy though! Hardly any white on him!

Vanan: It SAID Black King, but I think it's a Mexican too, which is great because that's what I wanted!
Jay76: LOL Yeah, I have full grown mice for Montey too. Those pinkies I just thawed to try and get him to get off the towel. And then he ate them lol So I thought there was no harm in him eating some little mice lol

Pinkies???? Come on, Jenn... you know no adult snake should be eating pinkies.
It's a screamer though. Very nice choice.

Great looking Mex. Black!! Looks like you have the same problem I do. I ALWAYS catch the cat sleeping on my tanks, he's ruined 2 screens for me so far .

Invictus. Scarlet kings as adults eat pinkies! I think some of those whacky shovelnose, patch nose, whatever nose grow up to be pretty darn tiny and eat pinks all their life. And hey, have you heard of blindsnakes, wormsnakes, etc, that eat termites? Now that's crazee. What really gets me are the patch nose I believe, that eat spiders and scorpians! Now that's just wrong! No self respecting snake should debase themself to eat invertebrates, but such as it is!
Jen, glad to know you know the difference between the two kings!! Not a lot of people realize there's are two subspecies.
See I told you the mex black was the best one to pick up (That's what I voted for on your poll.) I'm with Simon, COLUBRIDS ALL THE WAY!!!!
I have one little lone mex black myself. Something about the way, their inky blackness slips around in your hands is mesmorizing.
