Hi fellows,
there aint much good information about tiger-rats at the web or in books. I have a couple of them for about 1 1/2 years now and have collected every piece of knowledge concerning this marvellous snakes. The best picīs on the web are here in the colubrid forum or are linked from it, f. ex. "freshly shed spilotes" and there is another thread about them, but i canīt remember the name... If you have special questions on spilotes pullatus, please contact me in person. Thanks and best regards,
Pitviper

Hi anacondaman!
Unfortunately info on about these wonderful snakes is rare.
There is a good german website (it's only in german, but i think he's planning an english version, due to the Uk flag on top)
http://www.pinesnake.de
I'm trying myself finding further info on Tiger Rats, especially the following two articles:
- The wonderful Tiger Rat Snake by **** Bartlett (Reptiles Magazine)
- Der Hühnerfresser Spilotes Pullatus (Zeitschrift des Kölner Zoos)
Anyone having one of them?
And due to you asking for Pics here's one of my female.
regards,
gurkee

We keep an adult pair of spilotes, and will be breeding them next spring. I have not found much info on them, but maintain them much the same as our Asian rat snakes without any trouble. Both have become docile over the past year, but were not always that way. Very interesting and unusual species at any rate.

Hi,
I currently have a pair of captive-bred sub-adults.
This is my female...

Another shot...showing some more of her orangey colouration...
These guys are quickly becoming my favourite snakes to work with.
Ryan and Sheila; I wish you the best of luck for a successful breeding.
I've heard that they can be difficult...what tactics are you going to use?
Cheers!
Simon

Hi folks,
iīm going to set off my new homepage dedicated to the worldīs coolest snake, the tiger-ratsnake, by winter or spring, maybe earlier. I proudly possess a re-print of the article from the cologne zoo, six pages in colour, but in german. Anyone interrested? I could compress this to *.jpg for mailing, but i guess itīll be still a mass of data.... Please leave me a personal message when interrested.
Spilotes rules!
happy herping,
Pitviper

the toronto zoo has 4 (i think) beautiful adults, they have had fertile eggs laid on several occasions.
as for a price, not too sure but i think about 150 - 200 seems good
cheers
