They are native right here in Ontario, and can be found in marshland in the Kawarthas. They usually live in or near peat bogs. My parents cottage is near Minden, and there these plants are fairly common up there.
I wasn't aware they were protected in Ontario, but its possible I guess.
I've kept them, and would consider them easier to keep than Venus Fly traps... They need lots of light and of course must be wet all the time
Sundews are also Native to Ontario.
