Pree-breeding weight in BRBs
Could someone please weigh one of their adult female Brazilian Rainbow boas please. I'm trying to determine the avarage adult weight of female Brazilians.
Thanks,
Trevor

Easy. Whatever they weigh after 36 months of a normal feeding regimen, or whatever they weigh after 24 months of an optimum regimen. OR, whatever they weigh after 18 months in my care! LOL!
Wish I could help man. I'd say 4-5 feet and just do it. They eat all day long DURING the cycling, so there's NO excuse for not having the weight put on.

Thanks Jeff. When do you start cycling? Are you dropping ambiant temps and hot spots, or both or just hot spots?
Starting Oct 1 I was going to let the temp in my room drop to 70-75 at night and 80 during the day. For the balls I was going to drop the hot spot too to about 80-85 night. Would this same process work to cycle the BRBs too?
Thanks,
Trevor

I think the room gets down to about 68-70F at night, starting Nov. 15th (last meals for males and SOME females are on ~ Nov. 1st). Day time highs are pretty much the same, but in the height of cycling, they are only there for about 6-8 hours. Drier, and less light as well. I keep the hot spot on at night for female Balls and Boas if they eating. If not, they get cycled like everything else.

But remember that there's a MILLION ways to do things, and my way is by no means the optimum/be-all-end-all.

Trev., unless you have one with good genetics AND you get them with a head start (good breeder that feeds his/her offspring, and/or an early litter) you will have to wait until her 2nd winter (30 months old). No problems. Next year she should be ready to go. Getting them to at 18 months is tricky and for your first time, I'd suggest not trying it.

No no no. That's Don. Although Don is always trying to pull me over to the dark side of Aussie pythons.
