8-10 a day?
a veiled shuld eat ... that in about 2 days i think
mine ate only a VERY little bit sooo ... there is no harm in feeding him more, but if he is overfed, he will get fat - lol

It would be nice to have a definative answer to this question wouldn't it? And my answer is not going to help you at all! LOL!

I will feed any baby/juvie chameleons of mine as much as they will eat over the course of a day. This is averages out to about 24 different bugs a day I figure. At about 6 months of age I cut back on the amount of bugs I feed my breeder females, while I still let the males eat what they want. Large, overweight females will consistently produce large clutches of eggs that when done over time, greatly reduces the females lifespan.

Now for my adult chameleons, I guess it just depends on the individual animal. I have males that will consistently eat only about 6 bugs a day (and not lose weight) while others will eat up to 24 different bugs. (and not look porky)

Jason's chameleon, (see post above) is currently living with me and that chameleon never, ever ate for Jason. Now that he is here, he hasn't stopped eating. Go figure!

This is what works for me, others may have different ideas/procedures for you.

Gook luck!

This is a very common asked question, just like "how often to use calcium/vitamin supplements, and what kind to use?"!LOL! You will not get a set in stone answer for calcium/vitamin supplements, the same is true for how much to feed. My feeding schedule, what I feed and how often I use calcium/vitamin supplements is going to be different then what you do. Every chameleon will have a different food intake, some are pigs and will eat and eat, some will only eat a few bugs a day or week. I have examples of both. Trace also pointed out another example, the veiled Jason had would not eat much for him, now in a new home with Trace doesn't stop eating. Here is what I will say, it is very important to feed gutloaded insects, if you are using crickets, make sure you are gutloading them well before you feed. If you are using silkworms, make sure you feed the worms leafs/chow before you feed them to your chameleon. Hope this helps!
