please don't buy a herp at a pet shop! pet shops usually (read: NOT ALWAYS) have sick and wild caught herps, with very expensive prices. go for a breeder if you want an animal, and do some research and decide what you really want instead of making a choice last minute.
Get some plants or a temp gun. Or maybe a ball python book.

depending on the store, nothing. I seldom support non-specialized stores, the horror most animals go through in them leaves no money for me to spend in them.

If your going to get another pet make sure you know how to keep it before you make a choice. you cant just decide randomly to purchase something and not know how to care for it..than ur just askin for problems.

Dont go ot the petstore and buy something that you know nothing about. If you really must buy an animals form a store go there, see what you want, go home and research it for a week and then buy it. It will benefit for you and your animal.
