hmmm - in all honesty, there isnt a place in ottawa to buy a cham other than veileds. i think trace has some panther eggs in the works, but other than private people, i would say no where ... sorry!
i know that there was a time that superpet carried panthers, carpets, and dwarf panthers, but that has been 6 months, and nothing but veileds! if you are set from buying from a pet store, go to superpet on merivale road and talk to the head of the reptile departmen (shane) and see if he can special order something for you. Shane hasnt done anything GREAT for me, but he has been helpful in ways that i cuold expand my own knowledg thru the internet.
if you cant get one special ordered, may i suggest going to a show in toronto and seeing connie fo arboreal exotics. she charges 150$ for a panther compared to others (pet stores) charging 400$, and she has nosy be, sambava, ambanja, and maroantsetras ... my dad rove me 4 hours from ottawa (both ways ) in a single day to pick up my panther
hope this was of some help to you and good luck

LMAO! I'm usually all over this forum aren't I? Adding my 2 cents here and there... and for strangely personal reasons I've been avoiding this one.
Chameleons in Ottawa? Few and far between IMHO. On the whole I'm not that keen on buying animals from pet stores, but I'll admit that I have. There are a few good ones in the city and I like the people at Pet Haven on St. Laurent Blvd. Their prices are good and the staff are extremely knowledgeable when it comes to things herp. I was in there last week? week before? to buy some F/T rats and they didn't have any chameleons, Veiled or otherwise. Best I can say is that they will put you on a waiting list and call you if any come in. They may be able to order you one?
If you are really wanting a Panther Chameleon sooner than that, then yes, the reptile expo in Mississauga is the place to check out. Arboreal Exotics is usually there and she has nice, healthy animals. As far as I've heard, Connie does not sell her animals to the general public though during the off months. (Jason was a special circumstance). This though, is just something I've heard, and may not be true, so it's best if you email her for her particular requirements. The next show is in, I believe, November.
Yes, I do have Nosy Be Panther eggs incubating at the moment, but due to longish incubation times, they probably won't be ready until early next year. I do have a stack of Veiled's that are due to hatch within the next few weeks and again, I won't be selling them off until I know they are old enough and established. I do have a few other eggs of different species being incubated as well, but most likely the offspring won't be sold. Haven't decided that yet as this point.
I remember you were having problems with your old female Veiled Chameleon a few weeks back. Is she ok? Is she still with us?
Hope some of this information helps a bit.
Cheers!
Trace

well, my feamle is doing pretty good, she's fairly active, and her eye seems to be getting better. Her tongue still isn't "working" but i solved taht by putting the insects in a conatainer, and she sticks her head in and eatys em up... and I would be interested in those nosy bes.... what price are you thinking about???? oh and i went to pet haven 2 weeks ago and saw they had no chams, just picking up some crix!!!

Hey 672!
Sorry, be patient with me, I get a little behind on emails, threads and the like sometimes, but I eventually answer.
I'm happy your little Veiled is doing ok. I have a few old chameleons here and for the most part they don't do much during the day anymore, they are content to sit in the window and look out over the world. Because of their decidely slow movements, they are also cup/bowl fed to make things a little easier for them.
As for the Panthers, I've got 21 eggs incubating at the moment. They were laid at the beginning of summer and the incubation time for Panther eggs is anywhere from 6 to 9 months, so that's why I say that these guys won't be ready until early next year. This is also assuming everything goes well and they hatch! A lot of things can still go wrong at this point. Price? The going rate for Panthers seems to be anywhere from $150.00 to $200.00 each, so that's probably what I'll be asking for them.
Cheers!
Trace

LMAO! Yeah. That's just Panther eggs too. I've got umpteen Veiled eggs, some of which are due any time, plus whatever else is incubating in that closet of mine.
So yeah, I think I'm busy now with my collection, it's going to get nutty around here very soon. EEP! Hopefully I've staggered all of the clutches and breeding enough so they don't hatch all at once!
