Showin off ghost hondos (warning - lots of pics)

My two new boys have now settled in enough to have fed and shed, so I couldn't resist getting a few pictures to show them off. These adult males are from Terry Dunham - and buying from him was an excellent experience - he is one of the premier breeders in the US and after dealing with him, I know why - beautiful stock and incredible business practices. The man is extremely generous with knowledge and with his animals - highly recommended.

This male (024) is one that Terry bred and is unproven so far, but I am optomistic that he will produce next year. He is just over 5 feet long and is very clean. Seeing photos didn't prepare me for seeing ghosts in person - pictures don't capture the translucent look they have and the very pale pink of the wide bands. I just love looking at them - so bear with me for all the photos -

This male is a bit smaller, about 5 feet and was proven this past breeding season. He has a bit more black tipping but still very nice.

These are the girls that the ghosts will be bred to next year - they look enough alike to be sisters, but completely unrelated. Our honduran population has exploded lately - got some hatchlings (het albino and possible het hypo) from Terry at the same time - will post photos of them in a bit once they are feeding more reliably)

3 year old tangerine (looking a little full - she had her rat yesterday!)

and our 5 year old female tangerine (who was out on a breeding loan this year - just got her back)

I definitely want some of those. Mary, was it difficult to get those ghosts imported? What is the CITES clasification on Hondos? Does the fella you dealt with have a website? Sorry for all the Q's, but I'm looking for some of the more rare morphs myself.

Invictus, Terry D's site is http://www.albinotricolors.com

It's a pretty nice site, even if Hondos aren't your thing.

Invictus: CITIES papers are not required for colubrids.
I would also recommend BHB Enterprises in Michigan. Brian and Lori Byrczk are great to buy from and they are also very well respected and professional. http://www.K***GS***E/bhb/
There site is currently down for updating and will be for the next couple weeks.

Thanks for the kind comments everyone.

Tim - I hope to have double hets, but sure am not counting my hatchlings before they come - the only way I could afford these guys was that they were unproven males (had been given a chance but had not bred - although Terry did confirm for me that one was proven by a clutch this year - very nice of Terry to both let me know this and to still sell him to me for the reduced price - great guy).

Invictus - as Classic says - hondurans are not under CITES so no paperwork required for that. That said, it is definately a hassle and expense bringing any snakes across the border unless you live close enough to drive down and pick them up from an American airport and drive them across yourself - the only bad part of that is the GST you have to pay on the Canadian price! In my limited experience most US breeders won't ship directly to Canada.

There are definately people in Canada who will be producing ghosts and there are already several who produce the albino morphs or will next year - it will be nice if there are a few more availble up here in the future. I really like the Hondurans - when we had to sell all our boas and pythons in anticipation of moving to Saskatchewan - we decided to concentrate on the hondurans - nice, big colorful snakes that love to feed! Hope we will get lucky with these guys after they chill out this winter - and they are sure pretty to look at in the meantime!

Top notch Mary!

Quality hondos you have there, I bet once socialized with the girls, they will make good breeders...

The 5 year old looks huge, can you imagine the big Double-Het hatchlings she'd produce.

Congrats on this great addition to your hondo herd.
