Don't think it makes a differance really.
I think some females get larger, but that's about it.

females get larger, but as for as temperment goes, it doesnt make a difference. Adult females are going to be worth more though.

no difference except cost.. if your just getting a pet, and buying from a reputable breeder - ie not a petshop - get a male.. it will be cheaper for you.

Temperament/care wise, there isn't a difference really -- females will get larger though, and often cost a bit more...

I really don't feel there's a difference in temperment, females tend to get larger, but, that's about it. And as Clownfishie said, they do tend to cost more as well.

i got a male for my first snake since I didn't want to deal with it getting too big. i know that with some hamsters and other small mammals, the females can be more aggressive, but i don't think it's the same with snakes.
no battle-of-sexes to be had here!

Get a female. If, in a couple of years, you decide you might want to try breeding, all you need to do is by a male and he's ready to go that year. If you did it the other way around, you'd need to wait about 2 years before your new female would be ready.
Size wise, it's not going to make a huge difference with a snake the size of a ball python. Maybe a foot difference at the MOST. Either way, pick out a nice clean captive bred ball and you'll be happy!

my female is very calm, and has never shown a bit of aggression, except towards mice, but the male will hiss his head off if he doesnt want to be held
