Pet rat
Hey, I am thinking of getting pet rats, and I wanted to know if I could keep them in a modified bird cage. Its just a regular rectangular cage, and i'm going to put substrate in the bottom and build platforms with ladders where the perches used to be. I was just wondering if they would be able to get out of the bars. They are 3/4 inch wide, and vertical. Would this be alright or would I need to add some sort of hardware cloth or something to prevent them getting out. Thanks.
