What is a good mid sized lizard?

I've been wanting another lizard for some time now, can anyone recommend a good mid sized lizard (around 16"- 3') that is handlable (besides a beardie)?

-Thanks

P.S I HAVE been doing a lot of research, so please don't tell me to go do some research

The ameiva is a pretty nice lizard, the males are beautiful...and they stay around the 16inch range. But Ive never heard of any being tame.

Blue-tounged skinks, Sudan plated lizards, some tegus, ackies, frilled dragons, water dragons etc.
Hope this helps!

as i say everytime someone posts something like this...URO'S They get a little more around a foot but they are SOO docile and handelable and one of the most active lizards i have ever owned..right when my lights go on they wake up, run around causs they are so active. i have two myself and i love them. Savannah monitores are also good if you dont mind it getting to around 3 feet..i have seen them handled many many times but obviously that requires much work and a lot of interaction daily. Good luck with whatever you choose

ridgetail monitors, expensive but cool. if you enjoy observing your lizards, you cant go wrong with these guys, they are always on the move.

you could also go with frilled dragons, chinese water dragons.. etc.... They need a but more space then ackies, but are also amazing display animals as well as great handlers.. they make excellent pets in the long run, and are good breeders if you choose to do so! good luck in your search.

Ackies are awesome!

Yellow Ackies were actually the start of my addiction to dwarf monitors and still remain one of my favorites. They are full of personality, very bold, and NEVER bite.

That pic is of one of my hold backs from the begining of the year. I just liked the light background and distinct black circles around the occeli

Ackies are the best monitors to learn from. Real behavior, social interaction and breeding are things regularly observed with this species. It's all about the husbandry. If you keep them in a "proper" manner (it's all about choices) breeding comes naturally........just try and stop them!

So to answer your question, yes, I think a beginner could have them successfully reproduce, within the first year of their life even. Actually I think a beginner would be the best candidate being that they wouldn't have had experience with any wild caught species. Captive breds are much easier to understand and also much easier to provide for and allow them to act "normal" (breeding is part of this too).

Best wishes,

Definetely blue tongued skinks. Very docile, handleable, friendly and curious. They grow to 18" to 24", on average.

Collard lizards and chuckwallas are fun and handleable guys that don't get too big.
